17 February 2011
The Uganda-based
NERICA rice project, funded by DFID through RIU, has recently published a comprehensive manual on rice seed production.
The
Quality rice seed production manual is written by Godfrey Asea, Geoffrey Onaga, Noah Anthony Phiri and Daniel Kimani Karanja, and published by two key partners in the NERICA project, the
Uganda National Crops Resources Research Institute (NaCRRI) and
CABI Africa. It can be freely copied on a non-commercial basis.
The NERICA project in Uganda has focused on the production of quality rice seed through capacity building of smallholder outgrowers linked to Ugandan seed companies.
